Stylish start for Aida blood drive

Stylish start for Aida blood drive

The current Mr PE, David Thompson, will be lending his full support when the Aida real estate office in the city launches its blood donation drive on Friday 6 August.

The event, starting at 10h00 at Aida’s offices on Buffelsfontein Road in Mount Pleasant, will form part of a national campaign by the real estate group which has already seen more than 3700 donors around the country part with a precious pint or two to bolster the reserves held by the SA National Blood Service.

“We fully support the campaign to increase blood supplies needed for trauma patients and people who depend on regular transfusions,” says Tobie Ferns, principal of Aida Port Elizabeth, “and are inviting members of the local business community and loyal clients as well as members of the public to support our first donation drive here in PE.

“We plan to make the day a fun event with entertainment and refreshments for young and old - and of course to attract hundreds of donors.”

Part of the success of the national campaign so far, says Aida CEO Young Carr, is the company’s distinctive red-and-white branding which enabled it to easily highlight the “Is your blood red?” campaign and persuade clients, business partners and members of the public to become regular blood donors.

“In addition, our franchisees have shown real commitment to the cause, with more than 50 offices around the country having already organised, publicised and assisted with donation drives at local shopping centres, schools, colleges and other venues as well as their own premises.”

“Donated blood is literally a lifesaver for many accident victims and people with serious diseases,” says Carr, “and we are committed to continuing this campaign as a way to make a real difference in the communities we serve.”

Potential donors can visit the SANBS website www.sanbs.org.za or contact its infoline to find out where and when they can give blood.
